6 Important Things You Need to Focus on When Writing a Blog

In a world where content is king, starting your own blog is one way for you to express your thoughts and feelings about a particular something.

But, no matter what your blog is focused on, there are some things that you need to take into account in order for you to be successful in your blogging endeavors.

Here are some of the most important things you need to focus on when writing a blog:

1. Make Yourself Comfortable in Writing

Every person is different which makes it so that every blogger is different when it comes to writing their articles. There are some that would prefer writing outdoors but there are also some that would prefer to be confined in a quiet room with minimal distractions.

My point is that when you are writing your content, it is important that you are comfortable first and foremost. Being comfortable when writing will help your ideas flow more naturally.

2. Be an Expert

When writing your blog posts, it is important that you do your research first so that you do not become a chump.

You have to be an expert in a certain topic so that people will actually believe what you are writing. Provide the necessary graphs, statistics, surveys, or anything that can support your ideas and claims.

If you want to entertain or to make a hilarious post, then include images that will help make it punchier and funnier for your audience.

3. Provide Structure to Your Posts

I have seen countless blogs out there that do not have a proper structure on their posts. The result? They have something that is hard to read. They may have some really good information in their articles, but the post structure and incorrect use of punctuation marks can rob your audience of a good experience.

Providing an outline before writing can help. Use correct paragraphing, utilize punctuation marks correctly, and do not forget to use bullet points, headings, and subheadings when it is needed (especially if you are trying to emphasize certain things).

4. Learn to Type Fast

Although I said earlier that you need to be comfortable first before writing, this can actually help you write better.

You see, your mind is a powerhouse when it comes to churning out your thoughts, but the problem is that it doesn’t do well in remembering things.

That is why if you have ideas in your head, create an outline first and then just start typing and type it fast.

You can actually get better the longer you are in blogging. You can also do some typing tests that you can find online as well.

5. Write Now, Edit Later

To accentuate my point above, the reason why you want to type fast is so that you can get your points across before you forget about them.

That being said, do not think about sentence structure or anything of the sort when you are writing. Just let your thoughts flow.

But, before you publish your content, always proofread and edit certain parts that you think will affect the brevity and effectivity of your written article.

6. Take Short Breaks

Look, you are human. You are not a machine that can churn out 1000 words in 10 minutes for a consistent period of time. That being said, in order for you to get back into the game, you need to learn how to take short breaks.

Take a break anywhere between 5-30 minutes. If you have to contemplate on whether you need to take a short or long break, take the shorter one.

Longer breaks tend to get your mind off of the game. However, you will need longer breaks if you find that you really cannot writing anything anymore.
